Dares.

So I finally found the Fantasy thread's Dare thread. I loved this last year, it gave me some cool inspiration to work from. So this year I'm gonna take all the one's that I like and dump them in here.

Your villain's entire motivation is to win a bet.
BP If the bet was for something like five dollars.
TBP If the hero's primary motivation is to keep the villain from winning the bet.
QBP If the person the villain made the bet with is the hero.

Have a half-crazed seer walk up to your MC and declare, "You are the chosen one." Then add some half-baked prophecy, perhaps: "You must pass through fire and water and battle the stone to find the golden reward." The MC sets off on a quest.
Bonus points if the half-crazed seer is later seen declaring that a goat, chicken, half a brick, or a fence post is the Chosen One.
Double bonus points if the MC doesn't find out about this until after attempting to fulfill the prophecy.
Triple bonus points if the seer approaches everyone with that line, and the MC was the only one who went along with it.
Quadruple bonus points if the MC fulfills the prophecy anyway.

Have an extremely flamboyant character as the main villain.
+ Said villain treats the hero like they're his/hers BFF and always has to share gossip with them.
++ After gossiping, the villain then hits on the hero and offers them fashion advice.
+++ The villain loves the shade pink and even has dyed their armor/robes and weapons that color.
++++ It is a bright NEON pink that glows in the dark.
+++++ The villain is feared by even gods despite all the amusing gossip s/he has given them over the years.
Cookies - the villain greats everyone with a 'Hello, darlings~! My, how ravishing you look today!'

Music Selected, Write Or Die Loaded, Ready To Go!

So, I figured I've got an hour or so before I have to leave for my work so I can get some writing practice in. I've loaded my iTunes playlist that I'll have throughout November. Mark Kroos* and WhatTravisSays** together in one 34 minute playlist, awesome. I'm going for lots of 10 minute bursts on Write or Die and I'll put my results in another post before I head out to work.

Some Stolen Plot Ideas

in the inevitable case that I can't make a reasonable plot out of the few ideas I have, I've stolen these ideas from the adopt a plot thread from NaNo's forums.

-Fairy tale characters are all getting annoyed because a wicked old woman is putting curses on them/luring them into gingerbread houses/marrying their fathers and trying to kill them. They hire a detective who must track down this woman while falling in love with a princess who's already got her Prince Charming.

-Pretty much, instead of the Queen finding her and tricking her into eating the poisoned apple, the Captain of the Navy hears about the Queen's plan to poison her, and saves Snow White by turning traitor against his kingdom and sailing off with the princess, the seven dwarves, and a hand-picked crew of his sailors. The Queen is angry, but with the Captain having disappeared, she has no way to get control of the Navy, and decides to just leave things as is since Snow White is no longer in "the land" to be called the fairest. Years later, there are whispers of a pirate ship off the coast attacking the reformed Navy, a ship called The Bitter/n Apple. This is, of course, Snow White, who has returned to take over the kingdom that is rightfully hers.

-FMC attends a wedding just to reveal that she's pregnant with the grooms child.

-At the beginning of each chapter you have a group of friends attending a funeral, the same funeral over and over again. Only one of them realizes there is something wrong, but each time he brings it up they say he's insane. To make things worse the corpse is starting to talk to him.

-A child monster is afraid of humans hiding under his bed. He leans over the edge of the bed and looks underneath to find a human child leaning over the edge of his own bed and looking underneath for monsters. Do they scream for their parents or become friends?

I'll probably end up doing one of these for my NaNo...possibly.

How to Make a Novel...Out of This?!

So I've been lurking around the new thread for all the adopt a ... threads in the new NaNo forums and I've come up with a few ideas as well as taken a few ideas for my novel this year. I still have no idea what it's about, who my characters are going to be or how anything is going to connect and flow...but I'm working on it. Anyway, these are the ideas that I quite like at the moment:

-Time spent in queues/waiting is given back at the end of your life.
-Time Travel is possible.
-Angel type healing powers are possible.
-People wear lifespan in an hourglass necklace which is given to them at birth.

Now all I have to do is take those ideas and create a story out of them...

It's October, Time to Plan

So here I go again, another month given away to the insanity that is NaNoWriMo. This will be my third year participating and I'm already itching to get started but sadly it's October not November, no matter how much I want it to be otherwise. So, while we're waiting for November 1st to roll around there's plenty of plot planning and other story related issues that we need to get sorted for our stories to run smoothly during NaNo.

But first, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Heather, I'm 20 years old and I live in Scotland. I'm currently working in a warehouse part time but I recently handed in my two weeks notice and will be finishing there on Oct 16th. My real passion lies in anything creative. I love to write and draw mostly and I'm really into animation, I would love to do that as a career. So, that's about all you need to know about me. I look forward to taking the incredible journey through NaNo with you as we all get to know our characters and stories together.
